Nextdoor Nexus: Where a Community Grows

A warm, welcoming space that fosters connections and memories between people of all ages. Inspired by the idea of two people embracing, the building’s design symbolizes the importance of inter-generational relationships and building bridges between age groups. At its heart, an elliptical void with a tree represents life and growth, reminding us of the importance of community.

Constructed with simple materials, the building’s white plaster and concrete structure is covered in a skin of bricks that creates a beautiful texture and allows sunlight to filter in. Inside, the community centre is a hub of activity, with indoor and outdoor playgrounds, a library, a gym, a movie theatre, lecture halls, massage rooms, a food court, and a cafĂ©.

The project’s aim is to create a nexus for the neighbourhood where everyone feels welcome and included. With the power to bring people together, we believe that our community centre has the potential to create lasting change and inspire future generations.
